YEAR 1: I thought I could handle whatever the bureaucracy could throw at me, so after collecting some materials and getting a brief overview of the process, I went home to sign up for Medicare. Harrumph! Humiliated, I came back for a thorough explanation of the process. Sue set me up with a Supplement to Part B and the Drug plan, and I was all set. YEAR 2: I felt like a semi-pro now, but knew I needed some help, and came back for a quick change of carrier with the same plans, starting before Halloween so there'd be plenty of time, and left feeling all set. In time, I started receiving information about the drug plan and how to pay. At the last minute, I realized I was receiving nothing about my supplemental plan, and called to see if Everything was copacetic. It was NOT! I was not signed up for a supplemental plan, which is, essentially, health insurance. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN. I STOPPED RECEIVING HELP FROM THE ASPEN CLUB at the time I needed their help the most - to rectify their error and get me back in the game. Now it is December 29 and I find myself delaying life-saving procedures because I was left in the lurch by those I trusted. I do not call this professional service by any stretch of the definition, more like volunteer work by folks without the drive and capability to do things right or make them so. I am disappointed and annoyed, and concerned about my health. This should never happen, especially when I left plenty of time to get it done.
