I love to work these fields, except in the dog days of summer, when on field 1 the pitch disappears into the afternoon sun.
The infield dirt was renewed in recent years by the addition of dirt from Coors Field, as were several other Denver city ball parks. Coors Field had replaced their dirt playing field areas, and donated the old dirt to the citizens of Denver, as I understood it. At any rate, the red dirt on these fields has improved the beauty of the park.
It's great to call games here, 2 fields; field 1 has a 265'-275' fence, field 2 has a short fence in left field, like Fenway, I think the base is at 250' with the fence itself being 30 feet tall. This tall fence runs from the 3rd base line to mid-way into center field. The right field fence is 265'.
