If you want your radon mitigation done right, go with Dr. Moorman. Period. He can be somewhat hard to get a hold of at first (think of a busy college professor), but stick with it (keep calling) because he is by far better than all the dime-a-dozen mitigation companies in his workmanship, honesty, and ability to successfully mitigate the most challenging projects. His expertise and experience allows him to think outside the box.
Our story: After not immediately hearing back from Leo about getting a quote for mitigating our new home’s radon issue, my wife (who was expecting at the time) and I made the mistake of going with a different contractor, who – come to find out after the fact – did not even seal our crawl space completely, yet said they did and charged us around $3K (the radon level actually went UP after this other contractor was finished!). Granted, our crawl space is extremely tight, but still…
Exasperated, my wife and I again called Leo and got a hold of him. Leo came to our home and pointed out the shortcomings of the previous contractor’s work and worked with us on a plan for doing the job right, which he himself executed with one other assistant. He was very fair in his pricing and completely up-front about everything. He was also very considerate of the fact that we were expecting parents with a limit time-frame.
In summary, don’t settle for the ordinary contractor types; go with Leo.
